The island and civilization is both referred to as North Pass. It is a small community of mostly demi-humans of species more suited toward the cold. This includes but is not limited to: polar bears, penguins, arctic foxes, reindeers, wolves, snowy owls, arctic hares, moose, sea otters and dall sheep. Things are rather rural and laid back here. The buildings may seem similar to east-asian style to humans. This is due to Japanese influence in the past. They have a light law enforcement guild called the Blizzard, which is usually made up of polar bear and wolf species.
There is a dock area by the coast of the island for merchants to come in on ships. All species are welcomed on to the island. A large trading market is in the plaza of the village.
Culture
People are very kind and polite here. The demi humans here are well-mannered and generous with one another. Life is simple and the folks are gentle. This reflects in the music played which tends to be relaxing string music or little tunes on flutes. Family is of high value here and there are plenty of children. Death is very heavily mourned and funerals are very sacred and emotional. There are a few temples and shrines of worship to send prayers to ancestors and Gods.

The folks here believe heavily in praying to their ancestors at shrines. They believe in an afterlife and various Gods that are similar to Japanese culture.

There is no capital punishment and all offenses have varying degrees of jail time.

This is a restaurant run by an arctic fox demihuman named Utada. She is is quite lovely in appearance. She takes her career and her food very seriously, never putting out a dish that is not perfect. A pair of moose antlers is on the wall. These are antlers from Utada's old companion, a moose named Otani. He was very dear to her and guests who pay respect she might surprise with a discount. She only serves sake, beer and water as drink options.

- Brief Personality: Nana Ruma, as she's lovingly known by everyone, is the generous and caring chieftain of the North Pass whose endless kindness could melt away even the coldest of hearts.

- Brief Background: Her parents were casualties of the Great War years ago. Born an orphan, Hiruma had no choice but to steal and take strangers' kindness into her advantage just to eat for a day. She eventually made it to North Pass and had found solace under the care of the monks. They taught her the value of kindness, generosity, and love which she then used to lead the people of the North Pass. Despite the coldness of the forever winter, the home is where their hearts stay warm.
Botan Nagarashi The Blizzard Leader

- Brief Personality: Botan loves sake above all else. A loud and lively man, a party never officially starts without him. However, he can be as deathly serious and focused as he is hard at partying.

- Brief Background: Botan had always been a troublemaker in his youth and the cause of headaches among the monks. All that changed when he met Hiruma. Because of her, he strived hard to be responsible and diligent even when he's having trouble being so, though the monks did notice his determination. Now, after becoming a monk as a result of years of travelling to foreign lands and honing his martial arts, Botan returned to North Pass to party and to be leader of the Blizzard. Also, he got really homesick for Hiruma's stew.

- Brief Personality: Yuriko is known to be always serious about everything she does. A real stickler to the rules, she will do everything to protect her homeland.

- Background: Yuriko was a legacy child of two Blizzard agents. She wanted to make her parents proud so she sought to follow in their footsteps. As Yuriko promised to help protect North Pass, her parents would always wish for her to meet the one who will protect her too.

Brief Personality: Utada is a quiet woman with a real passion for cooking. Others are in awe of her dedication for her craft, and her quietness and diligence has made her quite the apple of many men's eyes.

Brief Background: Utada was born into a family of very poor background. Her parents had decided to sell her off to become a rich family's slave but it was Hiruma who saved her, running away with her in tow back to North Pass. The poor girl had been left quiet and emotionless due to her trauma and the others were worried about Utada. However, everything changed when she tasted Hiruma's stew. The chieftain taught the young girl how to cook and from that point on, Utada's love for cooking was born. With the help of her new family, she was able to build Utada's Hot Food to serve as a medium for her passion and to also give warmth to those around Utada just as what Hiruma did for her years ago too.
